This month, Carmarthenshire Archives proudly welcomed the deposit of a stunning collection of portraits captured during Carmarthen Pride 2024 — a fantastic celebration of inclusivity, unity, and joy.

The festival, held at St. Peter’s Civic Hall and St. Catherine’s Walk, treated attendees to an exciting mix of entertainment, community stalls, and interactive activities, culminating in an after-party at Rainbow’s End.

To commemorate the occasion, celebrated photographer Mohamed Hassan was commissioned by Carmarthen – LocalMotion, a movement for social, economic, and environmental justice, to create a compelling series of portraits spotlighting the attendees. These powerful images were officially deposited at a special event hosted by Carmarthenshire Archives and will now be preserved for posterity.

Since hosting its first official Pride in 2022, Carmarthenshire has seen the event flourish into an increasingly inclusive and spirited celebration while also raising awareness of the challenges still faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

Mark your calendars: Carmarthen Pride 2025 is set for 30 August.
